Fiesta Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Shelves are the perfect place to display your personal style, photos of loved ones and favorite collections. And if you’re browsing the Fiesta Dinnerware blog, we have a sneaking suspicion about what one of your favorite collections might be.

Spring is a great time to freshen your shelves up with a new look. We styled our shelves three different ways to give you some inspiration for the season.

Palm Springs

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Palm Springs is having a comeback moment right now. What’s not to love about all the colorful architecture Palm Springs is known for? And so many interesting desert plants! We centered this design around a fun “Butterfly House” print we found on Etsy.*

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We combined vibrant colors like Poppy, Tangerine, Sunflower, and Claret (available in June 2016), inspired by the whimsical colorful front doors sprinkled all throughout the neighborhoods of Palm Springs. Then we added Lemongrass and Shamrock in honor of the beautiful succulents of the desert. Don’t forget some touches of gold, because let’s face it, you can’t have Palm Springs without some bling.

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Botanical

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

The botanical theme is one you might be seeing in all the design blogs and magazines this season. Why not try it out in your spring shelf design? To achieve this look, think lush greenery, jewel tones and natural wood.

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We used a “Tropical Banana Leaf Art Print” from Etsy* combined with actual banana leaves and a banana leaf bowl. Then we added some basket weave items, a hand-carved wooden bowl and a pop of metallic with some copper Moscow mule mugs. Next, of course, we displayed a glorious range of rich hued Fiesta Dinnerware in Claret, Turquoise, Sage, Lapis, and Cobalt.

Retro Kitchen

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Spring has us thinking ice cream and ice cream has us thinking vintage kitchens. So that’s the inspiration for our spring shelfie #3.

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We found this cute replication ice cream sign at a hobby store. We combined Claret, Turquoise, Scarlet, Slate, and Ivory Fiesta Dinnerware for a classic retro kitchen look. A simple red tray holds a sweet little gingham trimmed basket filled with red and white paper straws and Fiesta flatware. A milkshake mixer and soda glasses complete the theme.

Italian Easter Bread Recipe

Fiesta Dinnerware Easter Bread Recipe on the blog at www.alwaysfestive.com.

Italian Easter Bread Recipe
(Pane di Pasqua all ‘Uovo)

We all have our traditions, and of course holidays bring out those traditions more than ever. Holiday recipes are some of the most beloved traditions in every family. The tastes, the smells. Just thinking about it takes us back to grandma’s kitchen!

With Easter just around the corner, we’ve decided to share an Italian Easter Bread recipe that’s been a secret for generations. But we feel such a close bond with you, our Fiesta friends, that we feel compelled to share it with you. However, this recipe comes with a fair warning. It’s not for the faint of heart: be prepared to set aside about half a day to prepare it. Trust us when we tell you, it is so worth it!

Fiesta Dinnerware Easter Bread recipe on the blog at www.alwaysfestive.com.

But really, the waiting and preparation is all part of the fun when you turn it into a family group effort. They’re the moments you’ll cherish forever.

So tie on your Fiesta apron strings, bring out your Baking Bowl Set and get ready to make a family tradition. It’s Easter Bread time!

With the colorful eggs and sprinkles in this recipe, it really is quite Fiesta-y. We like to coordinate the sprinkles with the color of the eggs and our Easter tablescape. For a Fiesta enthusiast, it’s kind of a dream come true.

Fiesta Dinnerware Easter Bread recipe on the blog at www.alwaysfestive.com.

After you dye your eggs, it’s time to activate the yeast and get to the bread baking. If you’ve never made bread using active dry yeast, don’t be afraid! It’s not nearly as daunting as it might seem.

After some mixing, setting and rising, the next “challenging” moment, if you haven’t done it before, might be kneading the dough. If you don’t have an experienced aunt nearby who can show you the art of kneading dough, a simple look up on YouTube will have you well on your way.

Ingredients
  1. 5 eggs
  2. 2 packages active dry yeast
  3. 1/2 cup warm water
  4. 1/2 cup warm water
  5. 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  6. 3/4 cup shortening
  7. 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  8. 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  9. 1 cup sugar
  10. 1 teaspoon salt
  11. 2 eggs
  12. 1 egg white
  13. 4 1/2 to 4 3/4 cups sifted flour
  14. 1 egg yolk
  15. 1 tablespoon milk
  16. Tiny multicolored candies
Instructions
  1. Lightly butter a Fiesta Pizza/Baking Tray.
  2. Dip 5 uncooked eggs in food dye to color (follow directions on package) and set aside.
  3. Soften 2 packages active dry yeast in ½ cup warm water (110 degrees F to 115 degrees F). Let stand 5-10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile pour 1/2 cup warm water into a large bowl and blend in 1 ½ cups sifted flour.
  5. Stir softened yeast and add to flour-water mixture, mixing well. Beat until very smooth. Cover bowl with waxed paper and towel and let stand in warm place (about 80 degrees F) for 1 ½ to 2 hours.
  6. Cream together until shortening is softened: ¾ cup shortening, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel.
  7. Add gradually, creaming until fluffy after each addition, a mixture of: 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon salt.
  8. Beat until thick and piled softly: 2 eggs and 1 egg white. Add beaten eggs in thirds to sugar mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add yeast mixture, mixing well.
  9. Measure: 4 ½ to 4 ¾ cups sifted flour. Add about one-half the flour to yeast mixture and beat until very smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead on a lightly floured surface.
  10. Select a deep bowl just large enough to allow dough to double. Shape dough into a smooth ball and place into a greased bowl. Turn dough to bring greased surface to top. Cover bowl with waxed paper and towel and let dough rise until doubled (about 1 ½ to 2 hours).
  11. Punch down with fist. Divide dough into two equal balls. Let stand covered for 10 minutes.
  12. Roll each ball out into a long roll about 36 inches long and 1 to 1 ½ inches thick. Using the two long pieces of dough, form a loosely braided ring, leaving spaces for the five colored eggs. Place on the prepared Fiesta Pizza/Baking Tray. Place colored eggs into the spaces of braid. Cover loosely with towel. Set dough aside in a warm place until doubled.
  13. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  14. Brush bread with a mixture of: 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon milk.
  15. Sprinkle with tiny multicolored candies.
  16. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or more or until bread is golden brown. (Eggs will be hard-cooked.)

Banana Bread Day

Banana Bread Day-2

There’s just something about the deliciously sweet smell of fresh baked banana bread wafting from the kitchen that puts a smile on our faces. Maybe it’s because we know we’ll be sinking our teeth into a slice soon, or maybe it’s just the memories of baking bread from our childhoods that gets us grinning. Whichever it is, there’s only one thing better than the smell: the taste!

ingredients

We’ve whipped together this recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth, and to celebrate National Banana Bread Day, a holiday that we firmly believe should be observed by everybody.

Pan

The recipe itself is pretty straightforward, just make sure you have some ripe bananas on hand and an empty stomach and you’re good to go!

Mix

There’s always been controversy over what to put in your banana bread to give it that extra punch. Maybe you add nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit, or maybe you’re a banana bread purist and add nothing at all. For our recipe, however, we chose to mix in walnuts and chocolate chips. The walnuts, because they give the moist bread a subtle crunch, and the chocolate chips because in our opinion, everything is better with chocolate chips!

Finish

You can use any Loaf Pan in your cupboard, but of course, we are partial to our Fiesta Loaf Pan. We chose Sunflower for this recipe, and in our opinion, the bright color makes our bread look even more delectable.slice

So dig in to this tasty treat, it is a holiday after all! Our only advice is to try not to eat it all in one sitting. You’re going to want to save some for later 😉

Confetti Cake Cookies

Confetti Cookies Lapis Script
These clever cookies capture the flavor of birthday cake in a chewy cookie because, well, who doesn’t love a good cookie? The secret to this flavorful phenomenon lies in the mix.  We’ve incorporated equal parts of flour and cake mix to create a faux-cake cookie that will blow your mind.

fiesta confetti cake cookies

Chockfull of creamy white chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles, these buttery little cookies have the unmatched ability to coax out the inner kid in us all.  Try them out as a casual alternative to fussy birthday cakes or whip up a batch for the kiddo’s next sleepover.  These treats don’t require a special occasion to be enjoyed.

Confetti Cookie Dough

While you can certainly incorporate some semi-sweet chocolate chips into this cookie as well, we felt the white chocolate chips provided the truest birthday cake flavor.  Change up the sprinkle colors to coordinate with the season too!

Fiesta Confetti Cake Cookie Dough Balls

In order for these cookies to reach their full potential, you absolutely should let the dough chill in your fridge for at least 2 hours.  At that point, take the dough out and roll it into balls.  You can return the dough balls to the fridge for a longer rest if you desire or start baking them off.  Another tip to help these cookies turn out nice and thick is to shape them to be taller rather than completely round.

Fiesta Confetti Cake Cookies

Depending on how big you make your cookie dough rounds, you will end up with about 2 to 2.5 dozen of these tasty little treats, but be warned: they go fast!

Ingredients
  1. 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 1-1/4 cup boxed vanilla cake mix (just the dry mix)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  4. 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  5. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  6. 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  7. 1 egg, at room temperature
  8. 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  9. 1 cup white chocolate chips
  10. 1/2 cup sprinkles
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, cake mix, and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the butter and both sugars together on medium speed until smooth. Add the egg and mix until combined, about 1 minute. Add the vanilla and beat until combined. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix on low speed until just combined. Add the chocolate chips and sprinkles and mix on low until they are evenly disbursed.
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 3 days. If chilling longer than 2 hours, roll the cookie dough into balls at the 2-hour mark. Place the dough balls on a plate, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and store in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
  4. Once dough has been chilled, preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Scoop rounded balls of cookie dough onto the baking sheet, using about 1.5 tablespoons of cookie dough per cookie.
  5. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are slightly browned. The centers will still appear soft, but the cookies will set as they cool. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Healthy New Years Eve Appetizers

New Years Eve

The Holidays are no doubt a delicious time of year. It can be hard to not feel like the Grinch when your friends, family or co-workers offer you yummy treats and sweets during the holidays, especially if they are really proud of their creations, so of course we have to do the polite thing and try out that cookie, cake or casserole! But after almost two months of indulging (That’s a lot of cookies and cake!) ourselves, we thought that it would be fun to lighten up some of our favorite dishes for NYE.

Lasagna VS. Zucchini Lasagna Rolls

Zuchinni-Roll-Ups

Of course you love lasagna! What’s not to love? Cheese, noodles, more cheese and zesty tomato sauce…yum. So we decided to swap out the lasagna noodles for zucchini. Then we rolled them up and baked them making for the perfect bite sized treat to have either as an appetizer or several for a little dinner treat—perfect for a NYE appetizer. We kept the sauce on the side as well to cut out any additional calories or to control your own portions and taste.

The recipe is so easy, just prepare ricotta cheese and spices as you would for regular lasagna. Bake or grill slices of zucchini with salt, pepper and olive oil before you roll them and bake them. We made ours to be a bit like the recipe from Recipe Runner, except ours are bite sized meant for appetizers and we left out the turkey sausage. We used bread trays to serve the appetizers and appetizer plates due to their perfect portion size for individual plates.

Zuchinni-on-Appetizer-Plate

Sriracha Shrimp Taco VS. Sriracha Shrimp Taco Bites

Shrimp-Taco-Cups

Sometimes the most important thing about eating healthy is portion control. After all, we love the idea of still being able to eat what our heart desires, especially when socializing during the holiday season.

With this New Year’s Eve appetizer, we basically cut the portion in thirds compared to a regular shrimp taco by getting rid of the tortilla and switching out the sour cream for a nonfat greek yogurt and avocado sauce for the creaminess. Instead of the corn tortilla we used multigrain baked dip chips as our base to hold the ingredients. Then we assembled the little chip cup with some shredded lettuce, a small dollop of the avocado yogurt sauce (recipe at the end of this blog post) a single shrimp topped with cilantro, tomatoes and a little sriracha sauce for a kick. Trust us, it’s wonderful with the creaminess of the yogurt avocado sauce.

Shrimp-Taco-Cups-on-Bread-Tray

Italian Sodas

Italian-Soda-Bar

Aside from portion control, sometimes you can cut back on certain ingredients when making your favorite snack or in this case drink. Italian Sodas are a fun treat for a NYE party. They aren’t something that most people have everyday and they are so easy to make. We loosely followed this recipe from A Cozy Kitchen, but swapped out the fruit syrup for sugar free syrup and used coconut milk instead of half and half, then offered a low calorie whipped cream on the side to use at your own discretion.

Full-Soda-Bar

So, whether you decide to spike your Italian soda or drink it sans alcohol, we came up with a lighter version we hope you try and enjoy.

Enjoy-a-Soda-Bar

Dessert

Clementines-Dipped-in-Choclate-with-Sea-Salt

We know how it starts. One cookie, leads to a bite of fudge, which leads to a small slice of cake and then just like that you’ve had multiple servings of dessert. We love this idea of fresh fruit dipped in chocolate! Of course you’ve had chocolate covered strawberries plenty of times, but how about chocolate dipped clementines with a sprinkles of sea salt? They offer the indulgence of chocolate with a bit of the salty fix mixed with fresh fruit. These sweet little dare we say healthy treats are a wonderful way to cut calories while still enjoying dessert.

This dessert was simple to make. Melt, chocolate melting chips in the microwave and stir every 30 seconds as it melts, then dip half of a clementine in the chocolate. Sprinkle coarse sea salt over the tops then pop in the fridge to let the chocolate harden, then enjoy! We placed these beauties on a small Turquoise oval platter to compliment the orange color of the clementines.

Cheers to a happy and healthy 2016!

How to Style the Perfect #Shelfie with Fiesta Dinnerware

Portrait-Citrus

Capturing images and sharing them with our friends and family on social media is one of the most fun aspects the digital age. Afterall, we are proud and love the items we have in our lives, especially if it has anything to do with Fiesta Dinnerware. In this blog post, we decided to play around with the digital trend known as a “shelfie” — decoratively styling the shelves of your cabinets and show you our three best shelfies along with some tips on styling your own.

Color Scheme: Our first tip is to decide what your color scheme will be. Once you decide on the colors you are going to display, then you can select the items you want to have on your shelves. In our three different shelfies, we created three different looks:

  1. an ombre scheme of greens and blues
  2. a collection of retro mod style
  3. a citrus color theme

Fiesta Tip: Have more items than will fit on your shelves? Fret not! The idea of shelfies is that they are a fun ever-changing piece of functional art in your home that can easily be switched out.

Functionality: If you’re styling a shelfie with Fiesta Dinnerware, chances are it will be somewhere close to your kitchen or dining room. Deciding how functional you want your shelfie to be will help you decide what accessories you will want to add to the shelves. We added coffee beans, sugar and a french press to one of our shelfies because it’s close to our breakfast nook.

Retro-Mod--Tall

Reto-Close-up-Top-Two

Horizontal and Vertical: To keep your shelfies looking visually interesting, use a variety of sizes of items and place them either in a horizontal or vertical manner. It creates interest and shows personality.

Blues-Ombre

Size: While it’s important to show off your own personal style, be practical about the extra items that you add to your shelfie to be the most aesthetically pleasing. For example, don’t add in any accessories that are bigger than the largest dish on each shelf. Extra items should generally be small to medium sized for best results.

Books: Regardless of the type of shelfie that you decide on, books always make it better. Since our shelfie consists of dishes, we decided to add cookbooks and magazines.

Reto-Middle-Close-up

Grouping and Layers of Colors: The idea with this rule is to create variety within the color scheme that you choose. In all of our looks, we have shown groups of like colors and/or layers of color but have varied the amount of each. By doing both, you get to show off your Fiesta collection and sense of color style.

Bottom-Close-up-Retro

Layered-Citrus-1

Focus-two-platesLayered-Citrus-2

Plants and Flowers: Add in plants or flowers to your shelfie. It adds a soft touch and keeps your shelfie looking natural and real.

Close-up-Ombre-Left

Take A Step Back: Once you completely style your shelfie, take a step back and remove one or two items off each shelf. The idea here is that you don’t want it to look cluttered. If any item seems to be out of place, remove it and reassess. If you are pleased with what you see, you’re done! Enjoy and use #FiestaShelfie so we can see your best shelfie!

Ombre-Pieces-

The Lemongrass deep dish pie baker is discontinued (Bottom Left Corner) , however we do have some stock still available online. So if it caught your, eye get one while you can!

Summer Fiesta Desk Makeover

Over-Shoulder-Shot

We love coming up with fun new ways to incorporate Fiesta Dinnerware into your everyday life. So we thought of several creative new ways to incorporate Fiesta into your workspace. We used new color Slate along with Poppy, Turquoise, Sunflower and Tangerine to brighten up this desk space. These colors are a great reflection of the colors of summer and bring an energetic burst to this Fiesta inspired workspace.

Entertaining-Set-in-Desk

We used the entertaining set in one side desk drawer for colorful organization of common office items. Mints, keys, highlighters, sticky notes and business cards are all organized in it’s own space with easy and clear access to items. We used a custom mix of Slate, Poppy, Tangerine, Turquoise and Sunflower. The Slate is now available in the omni tray.

Fiesta-Rectangular-Baker

Thinking outside the world of folders, the rectangular baker works perfectly to keep all your notes, documents and other paperwork in place and organized. We use the Tangerine rectangular baker pictured here.

Inside-Top-Desk

Mosts desks have a top middle drawer that usually ends up being the catch-all drawer for everything. We came up with a solution for that.

Turquoise and Poppy napkin holders with the small bread tray make the perfect contained spaces for journals, phones, wallets and any other larger office supplies that need the perfect home. We took advantage of the size of the Sugar Packet Caddy for rubber bands, push-pins and paperclips. The coordinating colors used are in Poppy, Turquoise and Slate.

Are you someone who likes having a few items right on your desk to grab and go? We thought you might need some office supply organization on top of your desk as well.

Bead-Tray

Another small bread tray in Slate is used to hold the more often used items with a Turquoise ramekin for paper clips. Having these items easily available will help you to stay more organized throughout your day. And we bet make you smile.

We also thought of a great way to dress up a square box planter. Perfect for bringing in some outdoor elements. You’ve probably also noticed the Fiesta Dinnerware table runner that we have used to run across the desk to add more color and texture.

Suuculents-Square-Tray

The square handled serving tray in Turquoise is layered with a Sunflower napkin holder to bring out the color of the succulents. The layering effect gives the plant a little extra oompf and helps to balance out the other side of the desk.

Umbrella

We even found a way to store your umbrella in a way that will prevent the carpet around your desk from getting wet on a rainy day. The large canister in Slate was a the perfect choice for our color combination.

Focus-Tapered-Mug

We hope you get creative and find a way to fit Fiesta Dinnerware into your deskspace at home or at work. It just may make you want to hang out at your desk and enjoy your coffee in one of our new tapered mugs, the one featured here is in Tangerine.

We also wanted to give you a special bonus for your workspace. Did you notice the wallpaper on the computer monitor in the images? If not you can see it and download the wallpaper below.

Full-Desk-Shot

The new tapered mug (available now) and Slate trivet are the perfect mug and coaster option for your deskspace. The trivet could double as a paper weight. We also love the size of the sugar bowl. It’s another great accent that can hold supplies. Unless you decide you need your personal sugar bowl for work, either way it works as a stylish functional element.

We hope that you enjoy using Fiesta Dinnerware in different ways. If you decide to organize your home or work office space with Fiesta, share the details in our comments section below or on our Facebook and Pinterest pages!
