Casual is the key to outside entertaining, so we’re all about buffet style. Here are a few pointers to create a great flow for your guests as they’re filling their plates.

Always set out your stack of plates to the far left at the front of the table. We used a vibrant, summery color palette of Turquoise, Poppy and new color Daffodil.

Don’t forget utensils and napkins. We wrapped our Fiesta Flatware in a napkin and tied it with a few strands of raffia. To keep it super casual, we used colorful bandanas as napkins for this buffet setting.

Last but definitely not least is an icey cold beverage. Our 2+ gallon Beverage Server is the perfect addition to any backyard soiree. It’s great for serving lemonade, fruit infused water or iced tea.

Gourmet S’mores Skillet for National S’mores Day

Fiesta Dinnerware Gourmet S'mores Skillet recipe

When we noticed there was an entire day dedicated to s’mores, it didn’t take us long to grab our new Individual Skillet and try some sticky marshmallowy recipes.

We created a Gourmet S’mores Skillet that grownups and kids alike will devour. Warning: you might want to double or triple this recipe.

This spin on a campfire classic can be made right at home in the oven, which means it can be made any time of the year. And that’s just fine with us!

Fiesta Dinnerware Gourmet S'mores Skillet recipe

It starts with a layer of a buttery pretzel crust. We subbed pretzels for graham crackers because, let’s face it, sometimes after eating s’mores we’re left craving a bag of chips. And then you need something sweet again. It’s an endless cycle of salty/sweet. We figured, let’s just put the salt in the sweet and save all the trouble and extra calories.

Fiesta Dinnerware Gourmet S'mores Skillet recipe

Next is a layer of creamy dark chocolate fudgy goodness. We traded the milk chocolate that’s traditionally used in s’mores for decadent dark chocolate because here at Fiesta Dinnerware, we’re colorful and different. Our recipes are a little different too! The saltiness of the pretzels combined with the richness of the dark chocolate is completely divine.

Fiesta Dinnerware Gourmet S'mores Skillet recipe

The final layer is simply marshmallows. That’s what ultimately makes a s’more a s’more, right? We chose mini marshmallows, but you could use larger marshmallows if you’d like. The marshmallows toasted to a perfect golden brown under the broiler in our Individual Skillet, featured in the new Foundry cast iron-like finish.

For the pretzel crust
  1. 1 cup finely crushed pretzels (about 3 handfuls)
  2. 4 tablespoons sugar
  3. 12 tablespoons melted butter
For the chocolate filling
  1. 12 ounces dark chocolate chips
  2. 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
For the marshmallow layer
  1. 1 (10.5 ounce) bag marshmallows
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease two Fiesta Individual Skillet Bakers or 1 8x8" baking pan with butter.
  2. Make the pretzel crust. In a medium bowl, stir together the pretzel crumbs, sugar and melted butter until all of the crumbs are evenly moistened. Pour half into the prepared Fiesta Individual Skillets or the full amount into an 8x8" pan and press evenly into a tight, compact layer. Bake until it is lightly browned and has a faint toasted smell, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  3. Make the chocolate filling. Place the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk in a heatproof bowl and set it over a small pan of barely simmering water. Stir occasionally until it is completely melted and smooth. Immediately pour it over the pretzel crust and spread it into an even layer.
  4. Immediately place the marshmallows on top of the chocolate filling, pressing down slightly. When ready to serve, turn on your oven's broiler and place the pan on the center rack. Broil until the marshmallows are puffed and browned, 1-2 minutes. Removed from the oven and let cool briefly.

Claret: NEW 2016 Fiesta Color

Claret (1)

It comes but once a year and for Fiesta Dinnerware enthusiasts worldwide, it’s like Christmas morning. Today we announce our new color of 2016!

The 2016 Color of the Year is – CLARET!

How does Claret fit in the Fiesta family of colors? Quite nicely, we must say. Check out the entire spectrum here: Ivory, Slate, Sage, Claret, Scarlet, Poppy, Tangerine, Sunflower, Lemongrass, Shamrock, Turquoise, Lapis, Cobalt, Paprika, and White.

Fiesta Dinnerware color spectrum for 2016 - featuring new color Claret. Learn more on the blog, www.alwaysfestive.com.

Claret is a high-fashion color that fills a void in the Fiesta spectrum. If you follow our new color introductions closely, you’ll remember we introduced Sage and Slate in 2015. Claret is a beautiful progression into this sophisticated color palette, but it also mixes well with the more vibrant hues, bringing depth and a complementing accent into the Fiesta palette.

Incidentally, without getting into specifics, Claret is actually quite a difficult color to make. As with anything that’s “high-fashion,” it may not be around for all that long, so we would recommend adding Claret to your Fiesta repertoire while it’s hot off the runway!

You can get your hands on Claret mid-June 2016 at better department stores, .coms, specialty stores, and www.fiestafactorydirect.com.

Are you already working on some creative color combinations in your mind? We know you so well! Be sure to share them with us on Facebook or the comment section below. We’ve been coming up with some ideas here at the factory too!

For those of you who are true Fiesta color connoisseurs and are wondering what Claret looks like in comparison to some of our similarly hued colors of the past, check out our comparison chart below.

Fiesta Dinnerware 2016 Color Comparison Chart

At any given time, we are only able to fire 15 colors on our kiln, so we usually have 15 colors on our color spectrum. Thus, we bid our friend Plum a happy retirement late last year. So, get your Plum pieces while you still can at www.fiestafactorydirect.com.

Stay tuned on our Fiesta Dinnerware Facebook page over the next few days where we’re coming to you live from the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. We’ll be sharing other new product introductions.

And join us on Pinterest tonight, Saturday, March 5, at 7:00 pm Central Standard Time (8:00 pm EST) for a live Fiesta Pinterest Party! We’ll be pinning all sorts of Fiesta photos featuring Claret, as well as other Fiesta favorites. We hope to see you there!

Fiesta New Color! Live at #IHHS2015

Peek under the curtain to the International Home + Housewares 2015 showroom floor as we reveal the #FiestaNewColor. We are so incredibly honored and happy to announce… sleek Slate and savory Sage.

#fiestanewcolor

“Slate is the quintessential neutral color, as it is thought of as classic and enduring. It will work with all of the other colors in Fiesta Dinnerware — everything from the most vibrant orange tones to the quietest pastel shades. And even though most people don’t think of green as a neutral, if we look to nature for inspiring color combinations (as we often do), think of all of the colors that work against green foliage similar to this lovely herbal Sage shade. The possibilities are endless and such fun to create!” says color expert Leatrice Eiseman, colorexpert.com and eisemancolorblog.wordpress.com

Fiesta New Color Reveal

Fiesta New Color Reveal“Fiesta history has always leaned toward a bright fashionable pallet. Today’s current updates in home fashion add rich Slate grey and accents of Sage green, providing a strong balance and coordination with Fiesta’s bright color pallet. The current throwback to mid-century modern and vintage styling includes a dominating accent of bright colors combined with cool grays and greens. In todays’ fashions, these color combinations do not exist without one another,” according to Rich Brinkman, our VP of Sales and Marketing at Home Laughlin.
