Fiesta Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Shelves are the perfect place to display your personal style, photos of loved ones and favorite collections. And if you’re browsing the Fiesta Dinnerware blog, we have a sneaking suspicion about what one of your favorite collections might be.

Spring is a great time to freshen your shelves up with a new look. We styled our shelves three different ways to give you some inspiration for the season.

Palm Springs

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Palm Springs is having a comeback moment right now. What’s not to love about all the colorful architecture Palm Springs is known for? And so many interesting desert plants! We centered this design around a fun “Butterfly House” print we found on Etsy.*

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We combined vibrant colors like Poppy, Tangerine, Sunflower, and Claret (available in June 2016), inspired by the whimsical colorful front doors sprinkled all throughout the neighborhoods of Palm Springs. Then we added Lemongrass and Shamrock in honor of the beautiful succulents of the desert. Don’t forget some touches of gold, because let’s face it, you can’t have Palm Springs without some bling.

Botanical

The botanical theme is one you might be seeing in all the design blogs and magazines this season. Why not try it out in your spring shelf design? To achieve this look, think lush greenery, jewel tones and natural wood.

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We used a “Tropical Banana Leaf Art Print” from Etsy* combined with actual banana leaves and a banana leaf bowl. Then we added some basket weave items, a hand-carved wooden bowl and a pop of metallic with some copper Moscow mule mugs. Next, of course, we displayed a glorious range of rich hued Fiesta Dinnerware in Claret, Turquoise, Sage, Lapis, and Cobalt.

Retro Kitchen

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

Spring has us thinking ice cream and ice cream has us thinking vintage kitchens. So that’s the inspiration for our spring shelfie #3.

Fiesta Dinnerware Spring Shelf Decor Ideas

We found this cute replication ice cream sign at a hobby store. We combined Claret, Turquoise, Scarlet, Slate, and Ivory Fiesta Dinnerware for a classic retro kitchen look. A simple red tray holds a sweet little gingham trimmed basket filled with red and white paper straws and Fiesta flatware. A milkshake mixer and soda glasses complete the theme.

Need some more tips on how to get the perfect look when styling your shelves? Refer back to our former blog post How to Style the Perfect #Shelfie. Now, we want to see your Fiesta shelves. Be sure to share your photos on the Fiesta Facebook page.

Claret: NEW 2016 Fiesta Color

Claret (1)

It comes but once a year and for Fiesta Dinnerware enthusiasts worldwide, it’s like Christmas morning. Today we announce our new color of 2016!

The 2016 Color of the Year is – CLARET!

How does Claret fit in the Fiesta family of colors? Quite nicely, we must say. Check out the entire spectrum here: Ivory, Slate, Sage, Claret, Scarlet, Poppy, Tangerine, Sunflower, Lemongrass, Shamrock, Turquoise, Lapis, Cobalt, Paprika, and White.

Fiesta Dinnerware color spectrum for 2016 - featuring new color Claret. Learn more on the blog, www.alwaysfestive.com.

Claret is a high-fashion color that fills a void in the Fiesta spectrum. If you follow our new color introductions closely, you’ll remember we introduced Sage and Slate in 2015. Claret is a beautiful progression into this sophisticated color palette, but it also mixes well with the more vibrant hues, bringing depth and a complementing accent into the Fiesta palette.

Incidentally, without getting into specifics, Claret is actually quite a difficult color to make. As with anything that’s “high-fashion,” it may not be around for all that long, so we would recommend adding Claret to your Fiesta repertoire while it’s hot off the runway!

You can get your hands on Claret mid-June 2016 at better department stores, .coms, specialty stores, and www.fiestafactorydirect.com.

Are you already working on some creative color combinations in your mind? We know you so well! Be sure to share them with us on Facebook or the comment section below. We’ve been coming up with some ideas here at the factory too!

For those of you who are true Fiesta color connoisseurs and are wondering what Claret looks like in comparison to some of our similarly hued colors of the past, check out our comparison chart below.

Fiesta Dinnerware 2016 Color Comparison Chart

At any given time, we are only able to fire 15 colors on our kiln, so we usually have 15 colors on our color spectrum. Thus, we bid our friend Plum a happy retirement late last year. So, get your Plum pieces while you still can at www.fiestafactorydirect.com.

Stay tuned on our Fiesta Dinnerware Facebook page over the next few days where we’re coming to you live from the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. We’ll be sharing other new product introductions.

And join us on Pinterest tonight, Saturday, March 5, at 7:00 pm Central Standard Time (8:00 pm EST) for a live Fiesta Pinterest Party! We’ll be pinning all sorts of Fiesta photos featuring Claret, as well as other Fiesta favorites. We hope to see you there!

Girls’ Night: Wine and Dessert Pairing

A night in with our girlfriends is always a good idea, so we decided to host a dramatic wine and dessert party. Enjoying each other’s company over three different courses not only allowed us time to catch up, but we also satisfied our sweet tooth with some unique recipes. Spending time with friends is a perfect addition to our #FiestaSummerResolutions.

Wine and dessert pairings are the perfect excuse to raise a toast to our girlfriends.

Wine and dessert pairings are the perfect excuse to raise a toast to our girlfriends.

One of the best parts of the evening was getting the chance to unplug and connect with our friends in person while making some special desserts with our hands. There’s something comforting about getting back to the basics in the kitchen: the texture of the ingredients, smells in the oven and the satisfaction of enjoying a homemade treat.

Course 1: Lavender Rosemary Donuts Dipped in White Chocolate paired with Riesling

This savory-sweet recipe inspired the entire color palette of the evening, with new Fiesta Dinnerware color Slate serving up the backdrop to accent color lavender. Using fresh lavender and rosemary straight from our garden, our kitchen smelled like a dream.

The ingredients for these Lavender Rosemary Donuts are pretty in themselves.

Homemade donuts are surprisingly simple to make. All you need is a donut pan and a few basic ingredients. We used a Lavender Rosemary Donut recipe from the blog, Gourmantine, and paired our donuts with a crisp sweet Riesling. What a tasty way to start the evening!

Course 2: Sangria Sorbet

We made this course the night before, so the sorbet had time to set. All it took was three ingredients (ok, four if you count water). Here’s how you make it:

1 cup sugar
¾ cup water
1 bottle sweet red wine (we used a red blend)
3 cups berries (we used raspberries)

Fresh raspberries are the headliner in our Sangria Sorbet recipe.

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until it begins to boil. Boil for one minute. Remove from heat. If you still have chunks of fruit, blend in a blender or food processor. Since we used raspberries, they pretty much dissolved. Push mixture through a mesh strainer to remove seeds.

Strain raspberry and wine mixture to remove seeds and pulp for this Sangria Sorbet recipe.

Pour liquid in a pan (we used the Fiesta Turquoise Loaf Pan). Cover with plastic wrap and freeze overnight. To serve, scrape iced mixture with a spoon or ice cream scooper. Because this is a boozy treat in itself, we opted to pair our Sangria Sorbet with some authentic Cuban coffee. If you haven’t had true authentic Cuban coffee, you must. It’s what coffee is meant to taste like.

Course 3: Flourless Chocolate Cake paired with Port

Get ready for this, we’re bringing you another three ingredient recipe. We couldn’t believe how three basic ingredients created this rich decadence. Eggs, chocolate, butter – that’s it! The prep is a bit involved, but well worth it. We found a fail-safe recipe for Flourless Chocolate Cake at the blog, Gimme Some Oven. Paired with a port wine, the combination was sheer bliss.

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors

Why release one new color, when we can release two? That was our idea heading into this year’s International Home + Housewares Show 2015 as our Fiesta family proudly revealed Slate and Sage.

The two muted neutrals are a chic nod to the vintage styling so richly seen sprinkled in to today’s modern tablescape. They also playfully accent the bold colors that are so classically Fiesta, and loved by all of you (thank you by the way!).

Think of Sage as the plush greenery that so elegantly makes backyard flowers pop, while Slate’s moody hue highlights and livens virtually any other colorful palette it comes into contact with. We knew we couldn’t have one without the other; in fact, we don’t know how we ever lived without them at the dinner table.

So grab your current Fiesta favorites, and come with us on a journey to five new Fiesta worlds using the newest members of the family, Sage and Slate.

1. Mediterranean

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors Fit for a Greek god or goddess, the Mediterranean tablescape uses the deep hue of Slate and the softness of Sage to accent notes of Turquoise, Lapis, White, and Tangerine to create a crisp and delicious vibe. Invite some cool succulents to the party for a truly on-trend lunch or dinner with friends.

2. Mid-century Modern

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors

Don and Betty Draper would kill to be at this fondue soiree. In this tribute to late 50s and 60s sleek retro, we’ve used both Slate and Sage to accent Poppy, Turquoise, and Ivory in a quintessential scene straight out of “Mad Men.”

3. A New Fiesta Morning

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors Slate and Sage

Wake up your senses with a modernized retro diner vibe. This one is one of our favorites; using simply Slate, Sage and White, we sweetly offset metallic golds and pinks found in rose champagne, delicious raspberry donuts from one of our favorite eateries on the west coast, E.A.T. Marketplace, and gold flatware. Succulents are, again, a perfect guest to invite to the tablescape party.

4. Dakota Lodge

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors Dreaming of sheer coziness during these past chilly nights? This chic cabin, breakfast-in-bed setting uses Slate and Sage Java Mugs to accent Cobalt, Sunflower, Plum, Paprika, and Poppy for the perfect lodge getaway. Don’t you just want to cuddle up with a good book and a hot cup of cocoa?

5. Sunny Daisy

5 Ways to Get Creative with Fiesta’s New Colors This cheery tablescape feels as fresh as that first bite of citrus in the morning. Here we’ve used the warmth of Sage and the depth of Slate to accent notes of bright Sunflower and crisp White. Enjoy your morning cup of joe or favorite tea with a must-read magazine like Domino to kickstart your productivity.

The color combos are limitless. Follow us on Pinterest and Facebook to see more color stories. What will you create?

Slate and Sage will be available to consumers when we begin shipping the new colors to retailers in mid to late June.
